Back on track!

“Anyone who is not investing now is missing a tremendous opportunity.” — Carlos Slim, some guy with $69 billion.

Hello! Just thought I’d drop in and send you all a lovely email to update you on the club to make your Monday afternoon just a little bit better.

A stellar announcement

I am pleased to announce to you that as of two weeks ago, Investors Club became the number 1 investors club of RHHS! Suck it, Red Cross Society.

A sombre announcement

I am displeased to announce to you that as of last week, Investors Club lost its title as the number 1 investors club of RHHS.

Next Meeting

Our club will once again convene on Thursday of this week (November 7, mark your calendars)! This meeting will feature a lesson taught by our president Stephen, who I’m sure has prepared a riveting lesson. No promises though.

On the topic of club meetings, we would just like to point out that Investors Club meetings are usually brief, lasting approximately fourty minutes. As such, we kindly urge each and every one of you to attend each meeting in its entirety.

Appeal from the Exec Team

Investors Club is one of the smaller clubs of RHHS. As such, we are highly dependent upon and driven by our members. We honestly would like your say on the direction of the club. Meetings are too long? Too short? You’d prefer every second Thursday? More fun? More games? More videos? Less Investopedia? Whatever your thoughts, just let us know. We cannot stress enough that we welcome your feedback to make this club more enjoyable for everybody. Just reply to this email to get in touch with us.

Home Stretch

We’re nearing the end of the Nipissing University Stock Market Challenge! With little more than a week left to go, make sure you stay dedicated and persevere!

See you on Thursday!

And with that, concludes the third instalment of the Investors Club Gazette, if you will. We hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend, have an awesome week, and we hope to see you all on Thursday!

Major Changes!

“The worst possible outcome for the stock market is that it takes a month to decide the election.” — Jason Schenker.

Thank you for coming out for another week of Investors Club! We have some major news for you today, including information for Nipissing. If your friends are not reading their emails, make sure they do, because that’s how we’ll be sending them their Nipissing accounts. A friendly reminder will suffice!

We’ve obtained our accounts for Nipissing! These accounts will be sent out to each member of the mailing list on an individual basis. You will be receiving those shortly after this email. Once you receive your account information, you can login and begin trading at

Good luck trading everyone!

Nipissing Stock Market Challenge

Lesson Overview

If you were not here for our meeting last Thursday, here’s what you missed:
Our exec Jacob taught a lesson on basic investments, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. We’ve made the lesson PowerPoint available on our website for archival purposes, in case you’d like to use it to study and brush up on your knowledge.

Lesson 1: Basic Investments

Next Meeting

The execs of Investors Club prepare presentations for the club on a bi-weekly basis. As there is no presentation scheduled for the next meeting, the majority of the time will be devoted to Investopedia trading and Nipissing information/assistance.

Still confused about stocks and how they work? We’ve found a fun, easy-to-understand video to help explain it to you!

Website Overhaul

We’ve completely overhauled our website to make it more functional and informational! On it, you can find contact information for the execs, a schedule of events, past newsletters, tips & guides, as well as previous lessons, available to access and download. Come visit it today!

Message from the President

“Invest time into the decision, only then should you invest money into the market.” —Brendan Lau

What a crock of bull, right?

Farewell, once again.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. We hope you’ll make it back to Investors Club next week (already added to the Google Calendar!) and look forward to your Nipissing Stock Market Challenge account hitting your inbox up soon. Until then, have a nice weekend, and happy trading!

—Dennis Fan

Welcome to Investors Club!

“Rule No. 1: Never lose money. Rule No. 2: Never forget rule No. 1.” —Warren Buffett

It is with great pleasure that I am drafting the first email for RHHS’s Investors Club of the 2013-2014 school year! Not only do we hope that you gain a wide variety of knowledge in the field of finance and investments, but we hope that your participation and involvement in Investors Club will not only provide you with newfound friendships and camaraderie, but also with invaluable skills that will help you in both your educational path and your future career.

Now that the mushy stuff is over and done with, here are some tidbits of information that it is of the utmost importance for you to know.

Nipissing University Stock Market Challenge

The Nipissing University Stock Market Challenge is a one month competition that we will (most likely) be taking part in this year! There is absolutely no cost to register and there are some pretty sweet prizes to boot!
* First Place: $2,000 Tuition Credit to Nipissing University*
* Second Place: $1,000 Tuition Credit to Nipissing University*
* Third Place: $500 Tuition Credit to Nipissing University*

Please note that we will most likely force you to take part in this, so try your best and have fun! Those looking to attend Nipissing University upon graduation, take notes.

We will send more information later on pertaining to this, so keep your eyes peeled to your inboxes.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will take place on October 17, 2013 at the same room. The current agenda for the next meeting is:

  • short video
  • introductory lesson
  • more Investopedia!

If anyone has suggestions for the exec team on further activities for any meeting, let us know by hitting the reply button and sending us your thoughts — we value them. We really do.

State of the Club

Although we received a decent turnout at our first meeting, we are always welcoming more and more members to take part in our club. If you find investing interesting, or know someone who may enjoy Investors Club, let them know and send them here. Not only are we looking to build our club membership, but we are also trying to build friendships and bonds (pun
not intended) in this club, despite how cheesy that may sound.

Connect with us!

As of approximately 4:10 PM this afternoon, Investors Club is striving to become the most technologically advanced club in the school. If we can’t defeat their budgets or their numbers, we can crush them with technology.

So, here’s how we’ll do that.

  1. We’ve set up a website, available at . From there, you’ll be able to find links to our social media, contact information, and schedule of upcoming meetings and events. In the future, we’ll be adding PowerPoints from our lessons and more information and resources for both fun and learning. If there is enough interest, we can also add a place for members to sign up, post their profits, and see where they stand amongst their friends. Kind of like GameCenter, but for virtual stocks.
  2. Follow us on Twitter, @RHHSInvestors. Regular updates and interaction will certainly take place, along with the occasional joke or funny picture. We will follow back!
  3. Join our Facebook group ! Press Join Group and someone will grant you access shortly.
  4. Add our calendar to your Google Calendar account. It’s free; why not?

Message from the President

“I love you guys.” —Stephen Xiao

So, to recap:
Thanks for coming, you’ll have lots of fun. Nipissing is starting soon. Our next meeting is October 17, 2013. Get your friends to come. We’re technologically advanced. Our President loves you. Yes he actually wrote that. No, I am not lying.

That’s all, folks!

And that concludes the first installment of the Investors Club (newsletter? mailing list? whatever). I really hope you guys read all of this, because I put a lot of effort into writing it. Don’t break my heart.
On behalf of the entire exec team, we would like to once again, welcome you to our wonderful club, and we hope to see all of you (and your friends) next week. Take care, and have a wonderful long weekend.

—Dennis Fan
